Sustainability

Since 2018 one of our main focuses at Le Vice has been sustainability. The impact we generate throughout our supply chain is a fundamental pillar when choosing our suppliers of cocoa beans.

Traceability as a primary requirement

Unfortunately, the journey of cocoa from when it is cultivated to when it is consumed in the form of chocolate is full of exploitation, corruption and violence in the world. It is our commitment not to be part of this unsustainable and unfair value chain, therefore we have taken traceability as one of the fundamental pillars of our supply chain.

Traceability means that at Le Vice we can know who has harvested the cocoa beans used for the production of the chocolate that we use as raw material and, most importantly, under what conditions it has been done. Unfortunately, most of the world's cocoa is not traceable, and may even have been grown by children slaving away for bread and water. Traceability is the basis for creating a fair and sustainable system, as it improves the conditions of its farmers and at the same time guarantees the quality of the beans to produce better chocolate.

Fair Trade

Fair Trade

A second look at sustainable chocolate is fair trade, where we share the value of superior quality chocolate with farmers. For every kilo of Fair Trade certified chocolate that we use, €0.10 is returned and delivered directly to the cocoa farming communities that participated in said production.

Today we have managed to overcome the barrier of 50% Fair Trade chocolate, this means that for every kilo of chocolate you buy at LE VICE, on average farmers will receive €0.05 in compensation, which will allow them to have longer lives. dignified and fair.

Sustainability is creating value for everyone, from the cocoa farmer to the chocolate consumer

By being part of a sustainability program, farmers receive better living conditions and education, which allows them to grow cocoa with better knowledge and ultimately obtain a better raw material for the production of fine aroma cocoa chocolate.

We see sustainability as a requirement of operation, if we do not address this issue today, we will not only be contributing to a market of violence and injustice, but we will also put the supply of cocoa and its quality at risk in the long term.
